ROBERT FRECHETTE Obituary

ROBERT J. FRECHETTE - GEORGIA, Vt. - Robert J. Frechette, 94 years old, a long time resident of Georgia, Vt., passed away peacefully on July 24, 2013 in Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington. Bob was born May 21, 1919, in West Berkshire, to parents Harry and Anne Frechette. He married Mary Simone (Smith) Frechette on Oct. 15, 1945. Bob was employed by H. K. Webster, Blue Seal Feeds in Richford, in the maintenance department, retiring in 1981. He was a signal corps sergeant during World War II and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a gentle person and loved to have a good conversation with anyone he met. During his retirement, he enjoyed his home, gardening, mowing his lawn, fishing, playing his guitar, listening to music and playing cards. He was a jack-of-all-trades, fixing anything that needed repair. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Simone; his daughter, Ann and son-in-law, James Benoit; and his son, James Frechette; granddaughters, Margot (Brian) Rodger, Alison (John) Wilson, and Melissa Giles; and by his great-grandsons, Liam and Finn Rodger. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-laws, Theresa (Wellington) Towle, Sister Cecile Smith, RHSJ, Annette (Francois) Montagne, Maria (Donald) Ploof, Shirley Smith, Clara (Rene) Demers, Kathy Smith, and Carmen Mayhew; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, John; his brother, Harold; sisters, Evelyn Miner, Frances Tanner, Beatrice Perry and Goldie Bean; brothers and sisters-in-law, Armand, Gerard, Raymond and Lawrence Smith, Rose and Lynwood West and Jane Mayhew; and mother and father-in-law, Ferdinand and Mary Louise Smith. We would like to give special thanks to Dick and Barb Pelkey, Phil and Brenda Scripture, David and Pam Millette and Donna Seymour for their support and for being such caring neighbors; also to Dr. Audrey VonLapel and Dr. Gogo and the staff at Starr Farm Nursing Center for their excellent care. I enjoyed conversations with Bob. As his obituary says, he certainly enjoyed a good conversation and was a gentle soul.

My condolences to the entire family, knowing Bob and Simone for all of my 52 plus years, I can think of no two more pleasant people to sit down with and chat, which I did while at my work or when I saw them elsewhere. My thoughts are with the family and Simone.
