W. KENDALL COOR Obituary

W. KENDALL COOR - PHOENIX, Ariz./BURLINGTON, Vt. - W. Kendall Coor, 50, passed away on July 20, 2015, following an 18 year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. With him at the end was his wife, Lynne, whom he had met at an MS support group meeting at the onset of his disease. Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Dec. 13, 1964, Kendall moved to Vermont at age 11 where he completed his elementary and middle school years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, the Burlington Tree Committee, and was a competitive skier as a member of the Smuggler's Notch Ski Team. Kendall attended Phillips Academy, Andover, where he excelled in architecture and the arts. Among his major accomplishments, was an invitation to mount a one-man show in the Gelb Gallery, and the placement of his 20-foot high sculpture named "Proteus" on the steps of the Addison Gallery at his graduation in 1984. He studied architecture at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., attending major workshops in Spain and Italy as part of his study. He also attended the Sorbonne in Paris for a year during his undergraduate years. Kendall earned his Master's in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCIARCH), working in the studio of Frank Gehry as he did so. He was working with Chanen Construction Company of Phoenix, Ariz., when MS caused his early retirement. Kendall is survived by his wife, Lynne; mother, Ina Fitzhenry; father and stepmother, Lattie and Elva Coor; father- and mother-in-law, Ken and Norma Buckwald; brother, Colin and wife, Rachel; sister, Farryl Bertmann and husband, Andre; nephews, Maximilian and Sebastian Bertmann, and Kaiden Coor; stepbrother, Eric Holt; stepsisters, Elizabeth Kosloff and husband, Sandy, and Stephanie Lavinia and husband, Todd; stepniece, Kayla Kosloff; and stepnephew, Jason Kosloff. A family graveside service and burial was held in South Hero on Sunday, July 26, 2015. The family asks that memorial gifts go to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Kendall , I remember playing hoops with you on College St. You were very young and happy. Clearly you were a good person. I’m sorry your run was cut short but I know you were the kind of person who would get the most out of life. Rest In Peace my friend
