Alice R. Leech

1931 - 2025

Alice Radle Leech age 94, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born in Durango, Texas March 15, 1931, the first daughter of five girls to Robert and Elnora (Nehring) Radle.

Alice grew up on a farm and loved working with her father. She often said she was her father's boy. She graduated from Chilton High School and later attended business College in Waco. She then went to work as a secretary at Alcoa Aluminum Company in Rockdale. There she met Darrell Leech while he was working for Barnes and Jones Lumber Company in Austin.

In 1952 she married Darrell Leech from Rockdale, Texas. They had two Children, Craig and Tami. They moved to the Highland Lakes area in 1958 and moved to Burnet in 1963. The family were members of the First Methodist Church.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrell, daughter Tami, and sister Norma Cranmer. She is survived by her son Craig, grandsons Casey and Cory and by sisters Bobbie Newman of Chilton, Betty Lou Beasley of Harker Heights and Linda Sides of Cushing, Texas. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and longtime friends.

Alice was active in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and the PTA. She taught Sunday school, volunteered as an aide at the elementary school, Teen Club and Chamber of Commerce. She was a longtime member of The Friends of the Library and was instrumental in the founding of the Library Thrift Store in 1984 where she worked for countless hours. She stayed active at the Library Thrift Store until March of 2020.

Alice was a member of Epsilon Pi Service Sorority for 15 years. She was awarded the Thomas C. Ferguson Citizen of the year in 1991 and also was named the 70th Burnet Honor Citizen.

Her friends were special to her. Church friends, co-workers, Thrift Store shoppers, and her traveling friend Donna Johnson and her special friend Helen Frady.

The graveside service and burial for Alice will take place at 11 am on Monday, December 29 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Dr. Leslie Tomlinson.

Alice's family greatly encourages that memorial contributions be made to the Hill Country Community Foundation.
