Ernest Brizendine Obituary
Lelwin was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Fulton Brizendine and Edith Champlin Brizendine; his brother, Glyn Brizendine; his sister, Betty Brizendine Smith; and his niece, Tammy Lynne Smith.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Brizendine and wife Amy, and Renee Brizendine Yates and husband Lonnie; his grandchildren, Kyle Brizendine and wife Samantha, and Taylor Yates Henson and husband Ryan; and his great-grandchildren, Paisley Brizendine, Caden Brizendine, Beckham Henson, and Adaline Henson.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Steve Smith, who was always more of a best friend.
And his nephews Brent Smith, Cody Smith, Blake Smith and partner Melanie Schlossberg, Trevor Smith and partner Chris Rodriguez.
Lelwin served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964. After his military service, he worked for many years at the Austin State Hospital, where he eventually retired.
In retirement, Lelwin found joy and purpose in repairing clocks-always willing to lend a hand or tinker with a timepiece that needed care.
To honor his love for animals, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the SPCA or to an animal shelter of your choice.

As a new UT nursing grad, Lee was one of my many mentors. Yes country and western dancing. Classic movies. And happy hour right after the 7am to 3pm shift.

I worked with Lee for many years at the ASSH on the childrens unit and he was a great friend. His chi dogs were some of his best friends. He always went county and western dancing one night a week and loved his fancy coffee machine. He kept my grandfather's clock running in past years. He will be sorely missed and heaven is richer by his presence. Always full of laughter.
