Anthony Remis Obituary

Anthony J. Remis, 95, of Kittanning, passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.
Born Oct. 30, 1930, in Ford City, he was the son of the late Anton and Anna (Sacik) Remis.
Tony was a lifelong resident of the area. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. As a young man, he worked as a firefighter. He then held various positions within PPG prior to retiring. Tony enjoyed camping and playing cards with his friends, fishing, golfing and was very devoted to his Catholic faith. He loved celebrating every holiday with his family and deeply appreciated his time with those he loved.
Tony's Slovak heritage and his deep Catholic faith were cornerstones of his life. He treasured the friendship of Father Volz and shared his love for the Lord.
Tony is survived by daughters, Alexandria (Wayne) Schultz, of Butler, and Elizabeth Remis, of Kittanning; daughter-in-law, Deborah Remis, of Plum; grandchildren, Theresa Schultz, of Oregon, Philip Schultz, of Butler, and Walker Remis and Elijah Remis, both of Plum; siblings, Rose (the late Bob) Fichthorn, Anna M. (the late Robert) Borowitz, Albert (Vera) Remis and Dave Remis; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Dolores L. Remis, who passed away April 2, 2025; his cherished son, Anthony J. Remis Jr. who passed away Feb. 19, 2023; siblings, Francis Jurbala, Martha Lux and Elizabeth "Betsy" Remis; and brother-in-law, Alexander Foradori.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Cornerstone Caring and Lutheran Life VNA Hospice at Home for the wonderful care and kindness given to Tony and his family.

I worked with Tony at PPG in Ford City. His son, Tony, attended St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights with my daughter, Paula, son, Michael, and daughter, Anne Marie. I enjoyed working with him. He enjoyed an extended retirement from PPG. He will be remembered in my family's prayers.
