Arthur H. Duncan
Arthur H. Duncan, 82, of Portersville died unexpectedly on Saturday at the Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle.
Born Aug. 5, 1924, in Castlewood, Lawrence County, he was the son of William L. and Bessie Bartle Duncan.
He retired from U.S. Steel National Tube as a foreman in shipping.
Mr. Duncan was affiliated with the Portersville Bible Church.
During World War II, he served with the Army from 1943 to1945. He participated in the invasion on D-Day and continued into Germany.
He was a true family man, and he is survived by his wife, E. Louise Duncan, whom he married May 10, 1946; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur D. and Shari Duncan of Portersville; six grandchildren, Doug Duncan of Portersville, Darcy Hollerman of Harmony, Deborah Duncan of Portersville, Danielle Duncan of Harmony, Diane Duncan of Evans City and Brandy Duncan of Portersville; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by a sister, Helen Dean of Brookville, and a brother, Raymond Duncan of Portersville.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Walter and Orville Duncan, and two sisters, Bessie Sanders and Vernie Baxter.
DUNCAN - Visiting hours for Arthur H. Duncan, who died Saturday, March 10, 2007, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Charles, pastor of the Portersville Bible Church. officiating.
A military service will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will follow in the Mountville United Presbyterian Cemetery, Portersville.
