Barbara M. Umstead, 78, of Chicora, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at her Chicora home.
She was born in Kaylor on May 25, 1947, the daughter of Raymond T. Craig and Vera G. Barnhart Craig.
Barbara married Richard E. Umstead on July 19, 1974; he died May 6, 2016.
She was a member of Butler Dog Training and the Chicora Women of the Moose. Barbara was in sales and retail and worked 10 years at the Rent-A-Center until her retirement in 2010. She also worked at Hills for 15 years and Ames Department Store for three years.
She is survived by, daughter, Angela Stahlman, of Pittsburgh; granddaughter, Brianna Yzkanin and husband, Chris Yskanin, of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchild, Jordan Yzkanin; a sister, Eileen Ballance; a brother, William (Mary Lou) Craig; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Umstead; a sister, Eleanor Peters; a brother, Earl Craig; and a brother-in-law, Lehman Ballance.
UMSTEAD - Friends of Barbara M. Umstead, who died Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at THOMAS M. STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.
Private interment will be next to her husband in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
