Daniel D. McRoberts, 63, of Saxonburg died Thursday at UPMC Presbyterian.
Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Rural Ridge, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Rose Robertson McRoberts.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a maintenance supervisor for PPG in Springdale and earned a meritorious achievement award for his work in coatings and resins in 1994. In 1995, he received a commendation of merit for developing an environmental spray head that collected emissions and was later patented by PPG and its use became widespread throughout the country. He retired in 2002 after 33 years.
He was well-known in the community for giving a helping hand to those who were in need.
He was extremely proficient in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and mechanics. He used his skills in many ways, from building his own home to rebuilding farm equipment.
He attended New Life Christian Ministries, and he was one of the founding members and deacon of the former Bible Baptist Church of Ivywood. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, farming and the love of the Lord.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Peindl McRoberts, whom he married on May 16, 1970. Also surviving are two sons, David D. McRoberts and Timothy E. McRoberts, both of Saxonburg; a daughter, Brenda Sue McRoberts of Saxonburg, and two brothers, Terry E. McRoberts of Telford, and Paul McRoberts of Wakefield, R.I. He is also survived by "man's best friend" and companion, Danny Boy.
McRoberts - Friends of Daniel D. McRoberts, who died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Marshall officiating.
Burial will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
