Deborah Coursen Obituary

Deborah Lynn Park Greaves Coursen, 69, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at AHN Grove City.
Born June 22, 1955, she was raised in Slippery Rock, and was a 1973 graduate of Slippery Rock High School. She enjoyed being in school plays during high school, was a candy striper and worked at Ord's drugstore. She participated in the Rainbow Girls and was a Worthy Advisor.
Deb was the oldest of five children and always looked out for her siblings, taking them to activities, buying gifts and providing guidance in the right direction.
She was inspired to become a nurse after visiting her great-grandmother Hall's nursing home when she was growing up. In 1974, she graduated from Butler County Community College nursing school, receiving her LPN. Upon graduation, she began working at Grove City Hospital, where she met her future husband, Jim, when he came in with a broken arm. He told the staff, "I will marry this nurse." They made their home in Barkeyville.
Debbie worked at Allegheny Valley Schools for over 30 years as a nurse for special needs individuals and helped to set up the first group home for AVS. She also taught medication classes. Her caregiving extended to many others, including grandparents, parents, in-laws and her Aunt Norma.
She found the time to travel and was able to go to Germany, Hawaii, Florida and Las Vegas, among other sites. She was a master planner for these trips.
Her generosity and caring extended to her siblings and their spouses, and to her numerous nieces and nephews. She was "Aunta Santa," buying an abundance of gifts for all of them. She never missed birthdays of her family and friends.
After retiring, Deb kept busy participating in the Women's Auxiliary at the Harrisville American Legion and cooked many meals for veterans and many others. She was faithful in asking for prayers for those in need. She enjoyed taking pictures and loved posting her memories and experiences on Facebook. She liked scratch off tickets, reading and watching movies.
COURSEN - A celebration of life for Deborah Lynn Park Greaves Coursen, who died Tuesday, March 25, 2025, will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Legion Post 852 of Harrisville.
