Edith Sutton Obituary
Born in Edgewood, Pa., Edie was a late bloomer in the legal field, earning her law degree from Duquesne University and building a career in family law. She was deeply committed to helping others, especially those who struggled to access legal support. Her work was driven by empathy and a fierce sense of justice.
Edie loved books, movies and good conversation. But more than anything, she loved her family. Time with her husband, Steve - whether traveling, watching a film or simply sharing a quiet moment - was her greatest joy. She was a devoted mother to Tyler and Emily; and a proud grandmother to Richard Masulis.
Edie is survived by her loving husband, Steve Sutton; her children, Tyler Sutton and Emily Sutton; and her grandson, Richard Masulis.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather and brother.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice in her honor.
She was a loving mother taken too soon - and she will be missed beyond words.

I am so saddened to see this and send my condolences to all of the family. I had the pleasure of knowing Edie for many years and was blessed to have many memorable conversations. She brought me in to the Butler Rotary Club and we often sat together for dinner. I will cherish her kindness and gentle manner. May she fly high with her new wings!!!

I search for words but there are none. And if there were they would not be enough to express the deep sense of loss that I know I´m feeling and I´m sure many others are with Edie´s passing. She was my cousin but she was also the big sister I never had. Always there to give a listening ear or words of wisdom and the infamous mother daughter pink dress . She was my idol as I marveled at how she achieved her dream of becoming a lawyer while holding down two part time jobs and family. She took on the many challenges that life threw at her and there were many, but she took them all head on with no complaints. She was an amazing person who will be missed and who I loved . Rest in peace dear cousin! My thoughts and prayers to Steve, Emily, Tyler, Robert and her many friends and family.

I have so many good memories of my friendship with Edie. She was such an essential part of helping me find a job as a paralegal. Her friendship was invaluable. George and I will always cherish the times we spent with her and Steve and sometimes with Sally and Don. The strength and courage she displayed throughout her life is what is amazing about her. Grace and peace to the family during this difficult time. I've known Edie since the earliest days in my career when I worked in Pittsburgh -- large firm, long hours . . . and Edie worked as a night secretary. She was a kind blessing during those long days. Eddie will always be in my heart. I didn't have money for a high falooten attorney..... she charged minimal.... wish I could have given her a million...
