Elton L. Weitzel, 87, of Butler died at 2:08 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1921, in Butler County, the son of the late Chester Weitzel and the late Nora May (Fleeger) Weitzel.
He was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He loved to bowl.
He had worked for the state as a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Martha (Wise) Gilliland Weitzel; three sons and their spouses, Randy and Mary Ann Weitzel of Pittsburgh, Ernest and Lynda Weitzel of Butler, and Brad and Beth Weitzel of Butler; a daughter, Sandy Wright of Butler; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther and her husband, Bob Hunter, of Butler and Gladys Zanicky of Butler; and a brother, Braden Weitzel of Unionville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Faye (Young) Weitzel, who died Jan. 8, 2001; a sister; and six brothers.
WEITZEL - Memorial services for Elton L. Weitzel, who died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Assembly of God, 105 Purvis Road, Mount Chestnut. Private interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
