Fred Savannah Obituary

Fred Savannah Jr., 86, of Butler, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Butler on May 29, 1937, he was a son of the late Fred Savannah Sr. and Susie Betro Savannah.
Fred was retired from the City of Butler, where he worked as a custodian. He had previously been employed by Pullman Standard in Butler and the Halstead and Mitchell Company in Zelienople.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He also belonged to American Legion Post 117 and the Moose Lodge of Butler.
Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams.
He is survived by one son, Anthony Paul Savannah, of Butler; three brothers, Joseph A. Savannah and his wife, Phyllis, of Butler, Donald A. Savannah and his wife, Darlene, of Pittsburgh, and Bernard M. Savannah and his wife, Susan, of Butler; and three sisters, Frances Vavro, of Parma, Ohio, Mary Rose Sassone, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Debra Albert and her husband, Robert, of Butler.
He was also a proud uncle of a number of nieces and nephews. He loved them dearly, and they were of great importance in his life.
SAVANNAH - Friends of Fred Savannah Jr., who died Thursday, July 6, 2023, will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
The celebration of a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Philip Farrell officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by American Legion Post 117, VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Fred's memory be made to American Legion Post 117, 413 S. Main St., Butler, PA 16001.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
