Genevieve Miller Obituary

Dr. Genevieve Miller
Dr. Genevieve Miller, 98, formerly of Butler, passed away suddenly June 23 at her home in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born on Oct. 15, 1914, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles R. Miller and Genevieve Wolford Miller.
She was a graduate of Butler public schools and Goucher College in Baltimore, Md., with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.
She was an instructor and received a master's degree in the history of medicine at Johns Hopkins University and received a Ph.D. in history of science from Cornell University. She was an instructor in the history of medicine and science at Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She was a curator, then director of the Dittrick Museum of Historical Medicine. She was highly respected in her field as a medical historian and wrote many articles and books on the subject.
After retirement, she returned to Johns Hopkins as a research associate, then moved back to Cleveland. She remained active and later became a mentor for students at the Intergenerational School in Cleveland.
She loved to travel and took a great interest in ancient architecture.
She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepbrothers, James V. and Charles R. Miller Jr.
Memorial services will be later in Cleveland.
Burial was in Cleveland's Lakeview Cemetery.
