James McCabe Obituary

James "Jim" R. McCabe, 73, of Sarver, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023, after a long, brave battle with cancer.
He was born at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh on April 14, 1949.
He graduated from Carrick High School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps that same year. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, having earned the rank of corporal. During a leave back in the U.S., he met the love of his life at a dance, Marlene (Powers) McCabe. They married in 1972.
Jim retired from Horsehead Industries in Monaca as a millwright in 2013.
Jim loved hunting, fishing, boating, cooking, and traveling in his RV. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marlene; his children, Tracy (Sean) Coen, Mark McCabe, Dr. Brandy (Stephen) Mechling, Joelene (Robert) Gray, Nicole McCabe, Landon McCabe, Amiah McCabe, Abby McCabe and Maria Beistel; and his grandchildren, Ashelyn, Rianna, Derek, Emma, Katelyn, Kayleb, Elijah, Xander and Brynndalyn.
He is also survived by his sisters, Sebilla (Butch) Czapko, Janet (Ed) Bubenheim and Karen (Michael) Gegick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alicia (O'Connor); his father, Ralph McCabe; and his daughter, Jennie McCabe.
While Jim had many roles, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he was also a volunteer Santa Claus. He spent many years spreading laughter and joy as Santa.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Leonard Appleman and Dr. Holtzman, for the excellent care they gave Jim.
MCCABE - Friends of James "Jim" R. McCabe, who died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Jim would appreciate monetary donations for toys made to the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League, 231 Monroeville Mall, Monroeville, PA 15146.
