Joyce Lorraine Anderson Goetsch, much loved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep Friday.
Born in Minneapolis, March 19, 1924, she was the daughter of John F. and Anna Flagstad Anderson.
Joyce was a 1946 graduate of the University of Minnesota. She taught junior high and high school home economics in Buffalo, Minn., Omaha, Neb., and Chatsworth, Calif., for more than 26 years. Former students recall her patience, humor and practical good nature.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Donald F. Goetsch of Pittsburgh; her brothers, the Rev. John F. Anderson (Dee) of New London, Minn., and Albert C. Anderson (Bev) of Eagan, Minn.; children and grandchildren.
Married for 60 wonderful years, she loved and enjoyed her widely scattered family: daughter, Sherree Ann Goetsch Funk (Jim) of Sewickley; and twin sons, Scott Douglas Goetsch (Leslie) of Baltimore, and Stephen Doyle Goetsch (Haruka) of Katy, Texas. She was proud of all her eight grandchildren, Emily Baldwin Goetsch, Benjamin Donald Goetsch, Allyson Lorraine Funk, Anderson James William Funk, Anne Jacqueline Funk, Samuel Shuki Goetsch, Miki Kathleen Goetsch and Calvin Maiki Goetsch.
She moved to Treesdale with her husband in 2002 after living 46 years in California, 32 in Chatsworth and 14 in Paso Robles.
Always active in church, she was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church.
She traveled extensively with her husband and enjoyed scrapbooking, square dancing, water aerobics, cross stitch, and Christmas cookie baking.
She was a member of the Treesdale Red Hat Club and the Mount Nebo Grange.
We miss her, but we rejoice that she is enjoying the hospitality in heaven after a long life, well-lived.
GOETSCH - A memorial service for Joyce Lorraine Anderson Goetsch, who died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, will be held Sept. 19 in the Ingomar United Methodist Church at a time to be determined. Her ashes will be buried in Ixonia, Wis.
