Larry Jamison Obituary

Larry J. Jamison, 81, of Perryville, Clarion County, passed away peacefully while in the company of his loving family Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley following a brief illness.
Larry was born in Cherry Valley, Butler County, on Jan. 8, 1942. He was the son of the late Raymond and Estella Ross Jamison.
He was a 1960 graduate of Moniteau High School. Larry attended the Six Points Church of God of Prophecy, and in his earlier years had been a member of East Unity Presbyterian Church in Cherry Valley.
Larry was a rigger at INDSPEC in Petrolia and retired in 2002 following more than 34 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and was a patriotic American.
Following his retirement, his wife encouraged him to attend a life screening. It was discovered that his right carotid artery was completely blocked and no longer had any function and the left carotid artery was 50% blocked. With the encouragement of his family, God's help, his will to stop smoking and the dedication of his doctors, his family and friends were blessed to enjoy over 20 more years with him.
In his earlier years, he participated in 4-H and enjoyed farm animals. His hobbies included hunting and gardening. He loved his cats, especially "Ikey" who survives him. He enjoyed going to breakfast and the fellowship of his friends at the Korner Restaurant in Rimersburg, where he felt at home. He also enjoyed dinner with his family at Bob's Place in Parker on Friday nights. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa and loved his family very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole D. Hovis Jamison, whom he married in Parker on Aug. 7, 1961. Mrs. Jamison passed away on May 15, 2016.
Surviving are four children, Mark Jamison, of the Richmond, Va., area, Jodie Hagan and her husband, Craig, of Parker, James Jamison and his wife, Nicki, of Lake Lure, N.C., and Laura Jamison and her significant other, Jeff Mohney, of Foxburg; five grandchildren, Rachel Gibney and her husband, Scott, Andrew Hagan and his wife, Samantha, Abigail Hagan and her husband, Greg Kowalski, A.J. Jamison (Bre Loomis) and Aaron Jamison and his wife, Diana; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Layla, Eivin, Bennett, Adalyn, Maisy and Everleigh; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Jeannerat, of Shippenville; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice "Jean" Sedwick Bane, Robert "Bob" Jamison, Janet McCandless, Harold "Pete" Jamison and Helen Irene Jamison.
JAMISON - Friends of Larry J. Jamison, who died Sunday, July 9, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at HILE FUNERAL HOME, 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the Six Points Church of God of Prophecy, 121 McKees Road, Parker, with the Rev. Dave Hutch, church pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Perryville Cemetery.
