Lucille Wetzel Obituary

Heaven gained a special angel when Lucille Evelyn (Brown) Wetzel, 82, of Butler passed away peacefully Sunday at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born the beautiful daughter of Elmer Brown and Lauretta (Brockway) Brown on July 9, 1933. She was a dear sister to Alberta Byers, Mary (Edgar) Johns, Betty James, Sandra Peters, Carl Brown and six brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
Lucy became the devoted wife to Kenneth Wetzel, who she married Nov. 27, 1953. Ken preceded her in death, passing Dec. 3, 2003.
Their once family of two grew to a family of seven, making her the loving mother of David Wetzel (Anna), LouAnn (Linus) Hesidenz, Ronald (Patty) Wetzel, Kevin Wetzel, who preceded her in death June 6, 1993, and Douglas (Connie) Wetzel.
They gave her the best gifts of all when they made her the nurturing grandmother, "Gram," to seven grandchildren, Kristi Wetzel, Lacey (Brian) Kummer, Douglas Wetzel Jr., Curt Hesidenz, Lindsay Wetzel, Samantha Wetzel and Dillon Wetzel.
She didn't realize there was any greater love until she became the proud and caring great-grandmother, "GiGi," to six great-grandchildren, Brady Bauer, Landon Hill, Lilly Wetzel, Khloe Kummer, Bentleigh Hays and Kolton Kummer.
Lucy's heart opened once more, when she rescued her feline-friend, "Kitty-Boy" and adopted him into the family.
Lucy previously worked at the Nixon Hotel in Butler. She was a past president of the Lick Hill Ladies' Auxiliary. She was a housekeeper for the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., where they lived for 14 years. More recently she was a caregiver for Concordia at the Orchard in Butler. She was also a personal caregiver for those that needed tender loving care in their own homes. Lucy was a member of Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to Cross and Crown.
We will forever remember our mother, mom, grandmother, grandma, Gram, Gigi and every other endearment for her kind and gentle heart and thoughtful ways. She never turned a cold shoulder and always saw the good in everyone and everything. We are very proud of the woman she was and are blessed to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. Our loss of this loving, gracious woman is devastating, but we will carry on the qualities that we loved so much about her and keep her forever a light inside of each and every one of our hearts. Her famous saying was "God Bless Her Little Heart"; now, it's our turn to say it, "God Bless Her Little Heart."
May she shine in heaven as bright as she did here on Earth.

It’s now been 5 of my loneliest years without you mom. I so wish we could have spent more time together. We had big plans to go to the casinos together, travel a little together and just be together more. This plans were all shut down when I suggested that we make a trip to BMH for a breathing treatment before leaving for the casino. Because your heart enzymes were elevated (which they always were due to the CHF) they had to admit you for 24 hours for observation. That 1 day stay was the continuation of too many more and too many changes . If I only knew then what I know now, this whole thing may have been avoided. I don’t know ♀. I just wish I would have tried more and had an evaluation in Pittsburgh.
Someday, I will see you again and be able to share that time with you again. Until then, I will always love you and miss you.
Your daughter,
Lou Ann

To the family of Lucy, I am sorry that I could not be at the funeral. I hold you in my prayers and will for some time. To day is going to be hard but remember Jesus has you all wrapped in his arms comfort will come and God's peace will come. Today realize that friends, family, and those who really want to be with you but cannot have you all in their prayers.

May God Bless you and keep you all.

Dear Lucy, I had known you all my life, from being my neighbor to having the chance to have you as such a wonderful caring mother-in-law for several years. You never turned your back on me or treated me any differently after the divorce from your son. I had the chance to give you a beautiful granddaughter Lindsay Wetzel who adored you very much and always had the utmost respect for you. You & your family always included me for which I will never forget. You always had a heart of gold & would have done anything you could for anybody. You treated people with respect & always had a shoulder for crying, laughing & someone we could talk to. You were such a very proud grandma to all your little ones, you loved to babysit & spend time with them, spoil them & love them. Lucy you were such a inspiration in many lives & for that you will never be forgotten, spread your wings & fly, God has certainly gained a very special angel. Rest in peace my dear & you will always be in my heart
