There are no words sufficient to describe my sorrow at Mr. Clay's passing. He wasn't just a teacher - and an excellent teacher at that - he was a mentor and a friend. From him, I learned as much about navigating the treacherous waters of life in high school as I did painting and sketching. He was a gentle soul and was always quick to cheer you up with a joke or just to listen to you if you wanted to get something off your chest that was upsetting you. He was a hard worker who invested so much of himself in everything he did in the art studio and theater. The world is a bit colder, colors less vibrant for his loss. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Marlin leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, artistry, gentleness, and warmth to all those fortunate enough to have known him. May all those who miss him take comfort in those memories.

Rest in peace Mr. Clay. You brought joy to so many. I loved playing women's softball for you and Carol.
