Martin Smrek Obituary
Born in Johnstown on Sept. 15, 1949, he was the son of the late John Charles and Viola Virginia Balcer Smrek.
He had served as an E-5 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Martin had been the credit manager at Koppers Inc. for 45 years.
He was a member of St. Kilian Church, and was a very avid runner.
Surviving are his sister, Patricia Adams of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother, Jeffry Smrek (Vin) of Mars; and two nephews, Robert and Roy Adams.
SMREK - Friends of Martin Gregory Smrek, who died Friday, May 12, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Road, Cranberry Township, with Father Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
Military honors will follow the Mass.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Kilian Food Pantry, or Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
