Mary Evelsizer Obituary

Mary "Marti" Kain Evelsizer, 56, of Seven Fields, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021.

Marti was born on Aug. 14, 1964, in Richmond, Va. She is the daughter of Bonnie (Perry) Brinckerhoff Morse, and the late Frederick Kain. Marti is the beloved wife of Mark E. Evelsizer, whom she married on July 17, 1993; loving mother of Mark Jr., and Maggie Evelsizer; dear sister of Edward (Laura) Kain, and Laura (Bryan) Sabol.

Marti graduated from Elkton High School, Elkton, Md., in 1982. Marti attended Elon University, Elon, N.C., where she received her bachelor's degree summa cum laude in business administration and met her future husband. After her graduation, Marti worked for Northwestern Mutual Life Company, Sovran (Nations) Bank and Thompson Everett Cable in Richmond, Va. In 1995, Marti was hired as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and graduated from the FBI Academy. She was assigned to the Pittsburgh Field Office. Marti was a member of the FBI's Crisis Negotiation Team, where she provided extensive training to law enforcement officers in Western Pennsylvania, international law enforcement agencies, and at the FBI Academy.

Marti retired from the FBI in 2016 to become a full-time mom. She enjoyed watching her children participate in school activities, sport events and dance competitions. Marti was affectionately referred to as "Mama Bear" and "Fairy Godmother" at her daughter's dance studio for her love, passion and motherly protection for studio dancers.

Marti was a member of Orchard Hill Church, Wexford, and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.

Mark and Family,

We are so sorry for this huge loss.
Some of my best moments working at Northwestern were working with Marti. We quickly became friends and we had laughs and fun each day when the work was hard. She sent us Christmas cards each year and I always loved seeing your kids grow up. The four of us had so much fun too-remember when you came to our Halloween party as a priest and a pregnant nun? And car dancing to "My Baby, She Wrote me a Letter" -after late night donuts at Krispy Kreme on Broad Street in Richmond -special times for sure! Thank you for such happy memories at the beginning of our married lives. I will treasure all those smiles. Thank you Marti for being a dear friend.
Love,
Susan & George Sheild

Rest in peace Marti as you will be missed not only by Mark, Maggie and Mark Jr. but by the many people whose lives you touched. We always enjoyed our special times with you and Mark over the many years of friendship we shared. We were so fortunate to have enjoyed a breakfast at Pamela's Diner in the Strip with you and Mark just after Christmas this year. The memories we cherish of special times with you and Mark will always be with us. We love you. Jack and Colette Freiwald
