Morris V. McClain
Morris V. "Moe" McClain, 85, of Buffalo Township went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday in his home.
Mr. McClain was born June 3, 1925, in the Birdville section of Natrona Heights, to the late Raleigh D. McClain Sr. and Esther R. Shindledecker McClain Hughes.
He served in the Army from August 1943 to April 1946. He fought in the Philippines on Leyte and Luzon as a private first class in the 2nd Battalion, 103 Regiment, 43rd Division. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze service stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Honorable Service Lapel World War II Button.
He worked at Pullman Standard until it closed, and he was the owner of his own construction company.
He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot. He was a life member of the Natrona Heights VFW, where he was past post commander and held other various offices.
He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and his cat, Nina. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mae L. Reith McClain; his children, Janice (Paul) Barbiaux of Cabot and Morris V. (Karen) McClain Jr. of Cabot; five grandchildren, Jacy (Paul) Brosenitsch, Tara Barbiaux (fiance, Chris), John Barbiaux, Halee (Michael) Sikorski and Karalee McClain (fiance, Ethan Gigler); and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, William Howard Hughes; and three brothers, Raleigh D. and Edward H. McClain and William G. Hughes.
MCCLAIN - Family and friends of Morris V. "Moe" McClain, who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065, 724-224-7730. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Luke Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, PA 16023, with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating Everyone is to meet at the church. Burial will follow at the St. Luke Cemetery, Cabot.
Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona Heights VFW.
