Ralph Earl Boyd Sr.

1929 - 2025

Ralph Earl Boyd Sr., 95, of Portersville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.
He was born Dec. 4, 1929, one of 13 children, to Fred Boyd and Margaret (English) Boyd. He attended Pleasant Valley Grade School and Portersville High School.
On Dec. 9, 1950, Ralph married Edith (McMonagle) Boyd.
Ralph retired from Kerry Coal Company, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 40 years. He was known for his strong work ethic and steady presence.
In his free time, Ralph enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He loved taking leisurely drives, visiting Roger's auction sale and traveling with his family to Bethany Beach and Hilton Head. He was happiest outdoors - mowing grass, staying busy and tinkering with anything that needed fixed. A true Mr. Fix-it, Ralph could repair just about anything placed in front of him.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his four children, Mary E. (Tom) Tiberi, of Butler; Ralph E. Boyd Jr., of Virginia; Tom H. (Linda) Boyd, of Portersville; and Susan M. McGill, of Grove City.
He was blessed with four grandchildren, Nicolette Boyd, Bethany (Shane) Young, Victoria (Derrick) Germuska and David Boyd.
Ralph was preceded in death by daughter, Kathy A. Boyd; son-in-law, John C. McGill; parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
BOYD - The family of Ralph Earl Boyd Sr., who died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, will receive friends from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Interment will follow at Slippery Rock Cemetery.
