Raymond "Pappy Ray" Geyer

Raymond "Pappy Ray" Edward Geyer, 82, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at his home of 54 years, following an extended illness.
He was born May 29, 1943, in Pittsburgh, to the late Fred and Myrtle (Clark) Geyer.
Ray graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1961. Ray worked at Armco in Butler as an electrical engineer from 1964 until his retirement in 1999. He attended Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, as part of Armco's apprentice program.
Ray was an active member of the Butler Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1963, serving as an elder in the congregation for many years. He spent many years shepherding the congregation as well as volunteering his time to teach others Bible truths, such as the hope of the resurrection.
Ray also enjoyed working outside on his 5 acres, flying his model airplane and taking pictures and videos of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also an expert carpenter, making Adirondack chairs and dressers for family members.
Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Schmidt) Geyer, whom he married March 21, 1964; three daughters, Denise (H. Scott) Thompson, of Slippery Rock, Pamela (Brian) Buerkle, of Worthington, and Dorothy (Christopher) Bowser, of Hilliards; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way, due in May 2026. Ray is also survived by his brother, Charles Geyer; and many, many nephews and nieces.
GEYER - All arrangements for Raymond "Pappy Ray" Edward Geyer, who died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, were made through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Butler Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 157 Unionville Road, Butler, with Mike Hawryliak officiating.
