Richard S. Elardo
Richard S. Elardo, 82, of Butler died Tuesday at St. John's Specialty Care in Mars.
Born on Aug. 6, 1931, in Jamestown, N.Y., he was a son of the late Vincent Elardo and Bessie (Bondi) Elardo.
He was a supervisor at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, retiring in 1999 following 25 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler, the American Legion in Falconer, N.Y., was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, following both college and professional sports, and had enjoyed archery hunting.
A veteran of the Korean War, Richard served with the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his daughter, Tana Lee A. Gayhart of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, Jamie F. Hook of Butler; two great-grandchildren, Makayla K. Hook and Julia C. Hook, both of Butler; one sister, Frances Caruso of Jamestown, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
ELARDO - Friends of Richard S. Elardo, who died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, will be received at theGeibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
