Ronald Kaufman Obituary

Ronald "Pete" Kaufman, 83, of Connoquenessing, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Nov. 24, 1937, in Butler, he was the son of the late Paul I. Kaufman and Helen (Walker) Kaufman.

Pete graduated from Butler High School in 1955.

He retired from Butler Armco in 1999 as an electrician, after more than 30 years of employment.

Pete was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler.

He was a lifelong member of the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department, where he held numerous positions and was in charge of the annual "Old Fashioned Buckwheat Supper."

Pete was an organist for Westminster Presbyterian Church of Butler, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Connoquenessing.

Pete was a member of the Keystone Squares of Butler, and impacted many lives as a chaperone/bus driver of the General Butler Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps.

Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially at his camp in Clarion, and attending their sporting events and concerts.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Carol S. "Mittie" (Welsh) Kaufman, whom he married Sept. 17, 1960; two sons, Douglas Kaufman and his wife, Carrie, of Mount Chestnut, and Michael Kaufman and his wife, Jayni, of Renfrew; a daughter, Michelle Kovach and her husband, Mark, of Renfrew; nine grandchildren, Evan, Jacob, Joshua, Anna, Adam and Abby Kaufman, Taylor (Josh) Lawrence, Christian and Cameron Kovach; three great-grandchildren, Logan Kaufman, and Isaiah and Ella Lawrence; and a brother, Paul LeRoy Kaufman and his wife, Theresa, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.

The family would like to acknowledge Pete's loving caregivers over the past two years, Nicole, Bobbi, Cathy, Beth and Ashley, and Good Samaritan Hospice.

KAUFMAN - There will be no public visitation for Ronald "Pete" Kaufman, who died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.

Arrangements are entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Good Samaritan Hospice or Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department.

Pete and Mittie were our coffee and donut buddies at First United Methodist Church on Suncay mornings. We always looked forward to our conversation with our dear friends. Pete was always upbeat and happy and a joy to be around. We are honored to call him our friend. May God bless you and your family, Mittie.
