Ruth M. Port

1933 - 2023

Ruth M. Port, 90, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.
She was born in Brownville Junction, Maine, on June 28, 1933, to the late Claude and Marion (Doyle) Bain.
After graduating from Brownville Junction High School, Ruth received her nursing degree from Eastern Maine Medical Center and her bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock University. She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Ruth enjoyed quilting, genealogy, ceramics, country music, especially John Fogerty and Bob Seger, loved God and spending time with her family, but most of all, she cherished life and loved to laugh. She was a past member of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary and was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ruth was loved and will be forever missed.
She was the mother of Diane (Paul) Reep, John (Rosalind) Port, Stephanie (Ronald) Jackson and Laurie (Ray Perez) Port; and grandmother of Jennifer, Jessica, Shannon and Josh. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Drake.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Port; and her siblings, Vernon and Claudia Bain.
PORT - Family and friends of Ruth M. Port, who died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will immediately follow in the church at 11 a.m.
