Sandra Binder Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" C. (Bish) Binder, 70, of Butler, died on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1952, in Kittanning, and was the daughter of the late Robert C. Bish and Rachel L. Dunham.
Over the years, Sandy wore many hats. From Girl Scout Troop leader, to Bingo Bus Coordinator, to babysitter (we'll get back to this one), to "The Tax Lady," to the Golden Girls. A lot of people may have thought it was a group of ladies going out for breakfast a few times a month, but it was more than that. Sandy loved veterans, since her husband had been one. As a group, they got involved with the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center in Cowansville, and did what they could to help the veterans. The Golden Girls first got into getting items for Christmas, then helped with getting extra food donated, to having a huge yard sale to raise funds to assist in getting their AC unit installed. The Golden Girls have since continued to get food sent their way.
Now for the babysitter hat. Through the years, Sandy helped many families with a safe, secure place to leave their loved ones. Usually, it was one-on-one. She taught them right from wrong and manners, and would get them ready for school. Her last two were sister and brother. They were the loves of her life. Anybody that knew Sandy knew Kiera and Brady. Brady was her right-hand man. That bond won't ever be forgotten.
Left behind to forever cherish Sandy's memory are her stepmother, Martha Bish of Fenelton; her sister, Cindy (Mervin) Wadding of New Bethlehem; her sister, Patti (William) Kosicek of Ford City; her brother, Raymond (Julie) Bish of Oregon; her brother, Roy (Sherry) Bish of Kittanning; her brother, Robert (Sharon) Bish of Maryland; her sister, Chris (Jerry) Campomizzi of Montana; her stepsister, Deborah (Robert) Brown of Colorado; and her stepbrother, Joseph Bowser of Fenelton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary F. Binder, whom she married on May 15, 1970, and who died on June 9, 2004; an infant brother, Ronald; and a stepsister, Terri Bellis.
BINDER - Family and friends of Sandra "Sandy" C. (Bish) Binder, who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, will be received from noon until the time of services at 3 p.m. Friday at F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington, with Pastor Harriet Hutton officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Sandy's honor to the Mechling-Shakely Veterans Center in Cowansville.

I was blessed to have Sandy and Gary as Girl Scout Leaders. Wonderful people. Great memories from trips to floats for the parade. Sandy got her wings. She will be so happy to again be with her love, Gary.
