Johnnie Taylor

Mrs. Johnnie Elizabeth Holcomb Taylor (Mama Johnnie) passed away at her residence on Monday, October 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Ethel Holcomb, her husband, Marvin Lee Taylor, her son, Stanley Marvin Taylor, and her brother, Charles Holcomb.

Johnnie is survived by one daughter, Sharman Czahor (Tim); daughter-in-law Pam Taylor; grandchildren, Shannan Lee Miles, Stanley Lee Taylor, and Kristen Elizabeth Davison (Josh); great-granddaughters, Sydney Summers and Brayla Taylor; great-grandsons, Jordan Stephens (Samantha), Chandler Stephens, and Taylor Stephens; great-great-grandchildren, McKenna Stephens, Kayson Stephens, Matthew Stephens, and Baylee Stephens; step-grandchildren Laurie Matkowski, and Tom Czahor (Tracy); step-great-grandchildren Vivian Matkowski, Iris Matkowski, Holden Czahor, Arlo Czahor, and Clover Czahor; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Holcomb and Opal Arlene Carden, along with several nieces and nephews.

Johnnie was born on April 20, 1928, in Gordon County, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Belwood High School, as well as Carroll Lynn Business School, where she met her one true love and husband of almost 73 years. Johnnie spent her entire life providing a loving home to her family, where she enjoyed cooking all their favorite meals and worked in her many flower gardens. Her pride and joy were always being surrounded by all her "babies", which included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite days were spent surrounded by the noise and laughter of family. She was a longtime member of Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Elizabeth Holcomb Taylor will be held at Belmont Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 12th at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon til 2:00 pm at the church preceding the service. Burial will be at Chandler Cemetery in Calhoun. Services will be conducted by Dr. Tommy McDearis and Reverend Stephen Williams. Music will be provided by Travis Stephens. Pallbearers include Jordan Stephens, Chandler Stephens, Taylor Stephens, Alan Holcomb, Hugh Holcomb, David Holcomb, Josh Davison, Zachary Miles, and Todd Stephens. Honorary Pallbearers include Bill Fallis, Billy Fallis, Chris Taylor, Robin Taylor, and Larry Wright.

The family wishes to thank Tapestry Hospice for all their help during their time of need, as well as special nieces Diane Wright and Mary Ellen Smith.
