Ann Yeager Obituary
Corpus Christi, TX
Ann Castorina Yeager, age 87, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 19, 1930, she was the daughter of Salvatore J. and Elsie Brown Castorina. Ann was raised in Port Isabel, Texas living at her family's hotel, the historic Queen Isabel Inn. In 1950, Ann graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas with a BS degree in Business Administration. Soon after, she met and married Arlin "Rip" Yeager. They enjoyed a happy 20-year marriage in Corpus Christi before he died suddenly in 1979.
Ann worked for more than 40 years in the oil and gas offices of TXO Production Corp., later Texas Oil and Gas and for Lou Little Operating Company, retiring in 2004. She had such a zest for life, loved her dogs dearly and greatly enjoyed entertaining friends and family for any occasion. Ann was a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church Corpus Christi, was a founding member of the Paws & Claws Auxiliary to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, enjoyed the Plumeria Society of South Texas and many other community organizations and activities. For several years, Ann organized her neighborhood's "National Night Out" annual event hosted by the Corpus Christi Police Department promoting safe neighborhoods.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore J. and Elsie Brown Castorina; her brother, S. Joseph Castorina; her sister, Patricia Castorina Zizinia; her niece, Patricia Zizinia Hanson; and her husband, Rembert Arlin "Rip" Yeager, Jr. She is survived by her nephew, Andrew A. Zizinia III (Leslie); great-nephews, Drew Zizinia (Anna) and their daughter, Charlotte Zizinia; and Nick Zizinia (Sarah Sue) all from the Houston area.
Ann leaves behind many loving friends, neighbors and caregivers including her physician, Dr. Glenn Bugay; Ana Silva, her long time primary caregiver; and the caring owners and staff of Visiting Angels of the Coastal Bend.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22 at Seaside Memorial Park.
