Charles Rau Obituary

RAU Charles B. (Bill) Rau went home to the lord on July 25th, 2012. He was born in Houston Texas February 12, 1917. Parents were Leo Belle Cushing and William Charles Rau. He had two children Robert C. Rau and predeceased daughter Marjorie Davidson, two grandsons Robert C. Rau Jr. and Brooks Davidson. The two granddaughters were Cindy Rau and Melissa Davidson. Two Step children Frank Weathered and Beverly Tidwell. For the first 22 years he lived in Houston, Texas finishing his education at Rice University. The next five years were spent in the Army entering as a private in the cavalry and finishing as a Captain. He participated in the landing at Normandy beachhead, brest operation, the Bulge, Clearing of Antwerp Belgium, on to the Elbe River just short of Berlin when hostilities ceased. On return he entered the automotive parts business in Houston, Texas went on to Louisville, Kentucky and then to Arlington, Texas for 48 years. In 1942 he married Eloise Freeman and spent 56 years together when she predeceased him in Corpus Christi, Texas. A year later he was again married to Jane McGee Weathered, another resident of Trinity Towers who had lost her husband of 56 years, Charles A (Chili) Weathered, who was also a veteran of WWII. Their marriage took place on April 17, 2001.Jane predeceased Bill on April 21, 2004 after three wonderful years.To offer your condolences visit us at: www.cage-mills.com.
