Charles Smith Obituary

SMITH Charles James (Jim) Smith age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas.He was born on September 12, 1926 to Otto K. Smith, Sr. and Lillian Ruth Smith. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1944. He served in the Army during 1944-1945. Jim was a retired prominent oil and gas attorney, who co-founded Esenjay Petroleum Corp. in 1977.Jim's life centered around loving and improving the lives of his family and friends. He was a member of Christ's Fellowship by the Bay.He will always be remembered for his devotion to God and to his family, his story-telling, his sense of humor, and his unselfish contributions and support to his family, friends and community. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, and brother.Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 45 years, Erline Smith.Jim is survived by his loving friend, Sharon Ashford, his sons, Cary R. Smith and Eric M. Smith (Wanming Smith), 3 grandchildren, Allison Nicole Smith, Alexander McNeil Smith and Micah James Smith, his brother, O.K. Smith (Carolyn Smith) and sister, Jeanne Whitehead. He will also be missed by Jenny Ashford Garcia and Kristen Ashford, numerous cousins, and countless friends.He was happiest when the people around him were happy.Graveside Services were held at Friday, January 21, 2011at Seaside Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.To view Tribute, please visit www.seasidefuneral.com
