Edmundo Gomez

GOMEZ Edmundo Gomez passed away November 1, 2010 surrounded by his family, after fighting a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on September 13, 1926 in Laredo, Texas to Arnulfo and Micaela (Nuncio) Gomez. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in San Diego, California, Honolulu, Hawaii and Camp Wallace, Texas. Edmundo and his wife Frances moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1956. He was employed and retired from Corn Products after 25 years of service. After his retirement from Corn Products, he was employed by the RTA and CCISD as a bus driver.He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances Valdez Gomez and three brothers, Glafiro Gomez, Sr., Arnold Gomez and Roberto Gomez.He enjoyed fishing, teaching others how to fish and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He treasured his time with his family, grandsons, nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, participating as a member of the Spanish choir and volunteering his time as a bus driver for the church school.Mr. Gomez is survived by daughter, Elsa Ramirez (Robert) and two grandsons, Robert Andrew Ramirez and John Anthony Ramirez. Other surviving family members include brothers, Rodolfo Gomez of Corpus Christi, Marcelino Gomez of Laredo, sisters, Irma Hilario (Abdelardo) and Gloria Morales (Juan) both of Laredo, Texas, and sisters-in-law, Simona Harris and Nelda Gomez.Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.To view tribute please visit www.corpuschristifh.com.
