Eugene Picha Obituary
Eugene J. Picha, 81, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his farm home. He was born in Moulton, Texas on December 13, 1924 to the late Jerry J. Picha and Victoria (Roeder) Picha. In 1931 his parents and two brothers moved to the Robstown area to farm. Later in 1942 the family moved to Taft and farmed the Sodville area. He met Josephine Drozd and married her on October 27, 1947. They were wed at the Holy Family Catholic Church and were married for 58 years. He farmed and worked for San Patricio County until 1956. After 1956, He continued to farm until 2004 in the Sodville area. He Loved being outside checking his crops, working on his tractors and spending time with his family. He was a loving, caring and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Holy Family Catholic Church. Eugene is survived by his wife, Josephine and his two daughters, Genevieve and husband, Bob Malott of Taft, Texas, and Patricia and husband, Douglas Hayek of Portland, Texas. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, David and wife, Christina Malott, Brenda Malott, Douglas Malott, Brian Hayek, and Sarah Hayek. He has two great-grandchildren- Anthony Malott, and Jared Engelhardt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Edward and Roy Picha and one grandson, Stephen P. Malott.Rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Tuesday September 19, 2006 at Colonial Funeral Home in Taft, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday September 20, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Taft, with Father George Kucera officiating. Internment will follow at San Patricio Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are: Douglas Malott, David Malott, George Picha, Larry Svadlenak, Harvy Picha, Billy Bernsen.
