Frances Woods Obituary

Frances Ortiz Woods, 82, passed away on July 11, 2005 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on June 17, 1923 in Hebbronville, Texas to Nicolas and Elodia Ortiz. Frances grew up in South Texas. She graduated from Benavides High School. She married Ray M. Woods in Corpus Christi. Frances worked for the City of Corpus Christi then went on to work many years at the Naval Air Station. She was a devout Catholic and sacrificed to ensure her children had a Catholic education. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and a long-time parishioner of Ss. Cyril & Methodius. She enjoyed her family and their activities, playing bunco with friends and was an avid baseball fan. Frances was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She was admired by all those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by all.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ray.She is survived by her daughter, Janice Woods-Hartman (Richard); sons, Michael (Denise), James (Lori) and John (Sada); grandchildren: Heather and James Woods, Jr., Zachary Hartman, Jason, Chad and Toby Long; great-granddaughter, Juliana Long and brother, Nicolas (Elia) Ortiz.Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005 at Seaside Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
