Hansalee George "Doug" Thielhorn

Hansalee George "Doug" Thielhorn, 80, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on August 7, 2006. He was born to Hans and Knauvie Cole Thielhorn on October 14, 1925 in Roff, Oklahoma. At the age of six his family settled in Pettus, Texas.Doug, a Navy veteran, served in World War II on the USS Shamrock Bay Aircraft Carrier during the invasions of Leyte, Philippines, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Japan. After completing barber school in California, he returned to South Texas in 1948 where he served his valued customers throughout the Corpus Christi area for over 58 years. His favorite pastimes were raising cattle at his Woodsboro, Texas farm, gardening and caring for his dog, Felix. Doug actively participated as a Minister of Welcome at his church, greeting members with a smile each Sunday.He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Demmer Thielhorn, and his son, Dale Carpenter. He is survived by his children: Teri Ralls and Cheryl (Terry) McNatt of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bill (Cindy) Thielhorn of Houston, Texas, and Kathy (Mike) Meneley of Laredo, Texas; several brothers and sisters, as well as twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Seaside Funeral Home with family to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Funeral Services will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Graveside Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Cemetery in Woodsboro, Texas.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cathedral of the Palms Church, or Vista Care Hospice.
