Hazel N. Happner

Hazel N. Happner, 87, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 in Junction, Texas. She was born February 1, 1918 to Thomas and Nell Webb near Blanconia, Texas. She married Richard C. Happner May 15, 1940. She had two children, Shirley H. Wright and Richard C. Happner, Jr. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter and her brother's, Barney Webb, Willis Webb, Bernard Webb, Lloyd Webb, Alton Webb and her sister, Cleo Townsend. She is survived by her son, Richard C. Happner, Jr. and his wife, Jinx and her son-in-law, Larry Wright all of London, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Frank Wright and wife, Laura of Katy, Texas, Steve Wright and wife, Kathy of Marble Falls, Texas, Clay Wright and wife, Kathryn of Pearland, Texas, Traci Maxwell and husband, Jim of Wimberley, Texas, Kim O Connell of Carrollton, Texas and Trey Happner of Gulf Port, Mississippi, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Hazel was a founder of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rockport V. F. W. Chapter and remained extremely active for many years. She was also a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockport and had been highly active in Faith Lutheran Church in Aransas Pass, Texas in the years prior to the construction of Peace Lutheran. She was an avid bird watcher, a hobby she enjoyed with her daughter. She had worked as a seamstress with her sister in Townsend's Dress Shop and continued to work out of her home for many years afterwards. She also enjoyed quilting, the benefits of which her grandchildren and great grandchildren have enjoyed. She had lived in Rockport, Texas for over 75 years and had been an active member of the community that she dearly loved. She leaves many family and friends to cherish her memory.Viewing and visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2005 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Rockport. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2005 at Peace Lutheran Church, Rockport with Rev. Tom Wagstaff officiating.
