Jacob Crump de Cordova
Corpus Christi - Jacob Crump de Cordova of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away May 30, 2021. He was born on October 28, 1941 to Chester and Lucille de Cordova (Boeye) at Fort Sam Houston, TX. He was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from W. B. Ray High School in 1960.
He was proud to serve in the U. S. Army from 1961 to 1963, emerging with an SP4 rank. After graduating from Texas A&I Kingsville in 1969 with a degree in business, he went on to work in the new field of data processing. In 1978 he began to work for Whataburger, where he would spend the rest of his career and become an early and enduring leader in their IT department.
Jake enjoyed walks with his dogs (Benji and Lolly), long drives to Mexico and West Texas, fishing, skipping stones on the bay, organizing elaborate family gift exchanges at Christmas, grilling on the back porch, and he must have marveled at how far his chosen field had come as he spent time on his computer, surfing the web and absorbing new information.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his integrity, his curiosity, his generosity, his quietude, his devotion to family, and his reliability, all of which contributed to his sterling character as a man.
Jake is preceded in death by his father and mother and by his brothers John Boeye, Bob Boeye, and Chester de Cordova.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Celia Gresco, his sons Paul, John, and Adam de Cordova, their mother Kay Soles, as well as an extended family who will all miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Seaside Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
He will be forever loved.
