Corpus Christi - Joan "Joni" Mackay, age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, was welcomed to Heaven on June 07, 2021. She was born in Staten Island, New York, on November 4, 1932. Joni is survived by her husband, Albert Mackay; stepsons Robert and Thomas Mackay; and stepdaughter, Kathleen Mackay. Joni was surrounded by many loving friends in her life. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 9:00 am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3026 S. Staples Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Interment to follow at 11:00 am at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH-37, Corpus Christi, Texas.

I still miss you Joni. You were the best of friends. I miss your laughter and your wisdom, and the way you and Al shared your love with me and made me part of your family. When I have a tough decision to make, I imagine discussing the pros and cons with you like we used to do. You blessed my life!

It´s been two years since Joni´s passing. I miss her funny sense of humor and her boundless energy. She was an intelligent and sophisticated lady. I miss my friend.

I am so saddened by Joni´s passing. Joni was a remarkable lady- so full of life and so young in spirit. We worked together for Beto´s senate campaign. She was out there working hard for him. She was a Democratic Diva member and had such a drive for social justice. She was funny and smart and so much fun to be around. I will miss you, Joni. God has a spunky angel now.
