CAESAR Joe Bill Caesar, son of the late Dillard and Lucy Dobson Caesar was born on November 1, 1924 in Mt. Airy, NC. He departed this earthly life Thursday, March 17, 2011. At an early age, he was baptized at Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, NC. After relocating to Texas, he was a member of Kingstar Baptist Church in Kingsville, Texas. After moving to Corpus Christi, Texas, he united with St. John Baptist where he served in the Trustee Ministry and was supportive as long as his health permitted.Bill served in the Conservation Core before enlisting in the United States Armed Forces on March 8, 1943 to do his part in defending America's freedom during World War II. During this time he was a part of the Commander Task Group participating in the test series of atomic weapons and devices at the Enorwetok Proving Ground. Bill retired from active duty as Senior Chief Steward from the United States Navy in 1964 after 21 years of service. From 1943 to 1964, he served 13 vessels and stations. Having served faithfully and honorably, he retired from the United States Navy Fleet Reserve in 1973. After retiring from active duty, he was employed by Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco, CA. In 1966, he moved to Kingsville, Texas and worked as a warehouseman and in the fire department at Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Texas until 1974. His last place of employment was Builder's Square in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bill exhibited God given gifts of carpentry and electronics. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Alma C. Norwin, Mrs. Viola France, Mrs. Stella Mae Everett, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Ziglar, and Mrs. Helen Lilly; two brothers, Marion Caesar and Wilson Caesar, and two infant sibilings.He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Thelma Florice Caesar, son, Nathaniel Bill Caesar of Atlantic City, NJ, daughters, Cathlenia Caesar of Atlantic City, NJ, LaShaundra Caesar of San Antonio, Texas, and stepdaughter, Meta Beryl Suzette Stewart of Atlanta, Georgia, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mrs. Rena Bell Martin, two brothers-in-law, Mr. Henry Lilly of Philadelphia, PA., and Mr. Calvin Ziegler of Mt. Airy, NC, and a great host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Bill's home going will leave a void in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.A Visitation will be at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
