John W. Waldron Corpus Christi , TXJohn Westbrook Waldron, age 89, passed away on October 20, 2012. He was born on October 8, 1923 to Arthur Westbrook Waldron and Georgina Griffith Waldron, growing up in a two-room log cabin with his five siblings on his parents' homestead in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. John attended the Banana Belt Public School, grades one ' ten, from 1929-1939 and completed his High School at the Adult High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1943. Three days after his high school graduation, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as a pilot and a navigator during World War II. John graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honors) in Chemical Engineering from The University of Toronto in 1949. He was employed as a chemical engineer by the E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company from 1952 until his retirement in 1986. John was an amateur historian, author, genealogist, scholar, and lover of poetry, enjoyed golf and duplicate bridge, and was the compassionate caretaker of the Cliffhouse cats and birds ' a true renaissance man. Active in various civic engagements, John also served as the Scoutmaster of Troop 349 in Portland, Texas from 1974 ' 1977. His positive outlook, sense of humor, and kind and generous nature were an inspiration to his family and others. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Marguerite Gladys Doey Waldron, his daughter, Dr. Janice Waldron, his son, Mr. John Doey Waldron, his son-in-law, Mr. Michael Martin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Western Canada and the United States. Rest in peace, Dad - you were the best anyone could ever ask for as a husband, father, and friend ' a very rare and wonderful man. We love you and miss you terribly.A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Corpus Christi, on Friday, October 26, 2012, at 1:00 P.M.
