John Watson Obituary

WATSON John Windle Watson of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away March 13, 2010 due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 85. Johnny attended A & M and Stephen F. Austin college. He served in Bouganville, South Pacific in World War II. Johnny was in the Oilfield Rental business in Dallas, Houston, & Corpus Christi. He fulfilled his long time dream of owning his own business & started Watson Pipe Inc in 1979. Two of his sons, Dan and Jeff Watson run the family business along with his grandson, Michael Watson. Johnny was a well loved and respected businessman known for his impeccable integrity and hard work. He was a loving, devoted husband to Grace Watson who passed away March 15, 1998. Johnny always put his family first and was treasured by his five children; Debra Watson and Dayna Mosier both of Austin and Dan Watson (Rita), Jeff Watson (Vicki) both of Corpus Christ, Texas, John Watson Jr., (Grace) of Fredericksburg, Texas, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive Johnny. Upon losing his wife in 1998, Johnny was blessed to have a 2nd chance at love with his devoted girlfriend, Dot Buckley of Corpus Christi, Texas. Johnny loved to dance and was known to cut a rug on the dance floor. He was kind and respectful to everyone who crossed his path and above all a true gentleman. Even though Alzheimer's took away most of the Johnny we all knew and loved, his ability to recognize a pretty women stayed with him until the end. Surely, the pearly gates of heaven are welcoming him with a warm embrace and he is finally able to dance again. The family wishes to recognize 4 extraordinary women who cared for Johnny with love and dedication; Taira Scales, Pat Nelson, Margie Bayerlein, & Dee Escamilla. In honor of this man known for a twinkle in his eye and winning smile, the family invites you to join them at his Memorial at Asbury Methodist Church on 7501 S. Staples St., Corpus Christi, Monday, March 22 at 3:00 pm.
