Lydia S. Montalvo

Corpus Christi - Lydia Montalvo, age 84, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021. She was born to Hermina DeLuna and Luis Salazar and was raised on the King Ranch. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from TX A&M CC (formally CCSU) with a Bachelor of Arts and Sociology. She retired after 21 years of service as a Claims Representative with the Social Security Administration. She then went on to work as an usher at the Hooks Baseball Field when it opened in section 114. She was excited when a team member would move on to the Major Leagues. She gave back to the community by volunteering at Catholic Charities, Toys for Tots, Works of Mercy, Christus Spohn Shoreline Cancer Center and Gift shop. She was a Member of the Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister at her home parish as well at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital. She truly enjoyed over 20 years of volunteering as a member of The Incarnate Ward Associates at Christus Spohn Shoreline where she developed many lifelong friends. She was an exceptional quilter. She personalized each quilt she made for her family and friends. She looked forward to yearly family vacations accompanying her husband on his Annual National Bowling tournaments. She is preceded in passing by her sister, Cecilia Falcon. She is survived by her husband, Rojelio (Roy) her sweetheart and love of her life of 64 years. Brother Joe Salazar (Downey, CA), and sister Eduvina Garcia (Santa Fe TX) Her cherished children, Dina (Doug) Ahrens, Delia (George) Gutierrez, Daniel (Katie) Montalvo. Grandchildren, Nick (Stacy) Ahrens, Kimberly (Brian) Davis, Danielle Ahrens, Dylan Ahrens, Louise Montalvo, Simon Montalvo. Great grandchildren, Teagan, Mia, Grayson and Decker Ahrens, Jackson, Sam, and William Davis. Would like to extend many thanks and appreciation to Christal and Chelo who became family to us as they showed their professionalism and provided their loving care this past year.
