Maria Alcazar Obituary
Corpus Christi, TX
Maria V. Alcazar, age 97, passed away February 28, 2019. She was born April 7, 1921 to Sylvestre and Felecitas Vasquez in Beeville, Texas. She was raised in McAllen, Texas. Maria married her husband Genaro R. in McAllen, TX and they raised their family in Corpus Christi. She will always be remembered for her strength and love for her family. Maria was an avid Cowboys, Astros, UT, and Moody sports fan. Maria was also known for her love of dancing and gardening.
Maria V. Alcazar was preceded in death by her husband Genaro R. Alcazar Sr., parents Sylvestre and Felecitas Vasquez, brother Israel Vasquez, grandson Jason Alexander, and niece Eloisa Mancha.
Maria is survived by sons; Jose Jesus, Genaro R. Jr., Victor, and Anthony. Daughters; Maria Del Socorro (Neil) Alexander, Lydia Lopez, Dora, and Roseanna. Grandsons; Vince, Ricardo "JR", Adam, and Brian (Evelina) Alexander. Granddaughters; Amalia (Wade) Ferguson and Genarose (Brian) Raichert whom she raised as a daughter; brothers Enrique and Mike Vasquez; and several other nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Maria, you were the best mother-in-law I ever had! (also, the only one). During the last 51 years of your blessed life, I and my wife, Mary, made numerous trips to Corpus Christi, mainly just to see you again. You always had something delicious warming on the stovetop, ready to be folded into a freshly-hand-made tortilla. I always admired your enthusiasm and dedication to your favorite Texas college and professional sports teams. What a fan you were! It's been almost a year since the Lord called you home. I think about you often and take comfort in enjoying all the memories of a half-century of being part of your and Genaro's family.

Mother, we shared such a loving relationship throughout the years. We laughed, and cried, as we had our daily chats (sometimes 3-4 times a day). I have so many wonderful photos of our visits, including the one used here that I took when I took you to Mass to get blessed by the priest. No one can take these memories away, as they are embedded in my heart forever...you'll always be just a memory away! We always closed our calls with an "I love you" every day...and those were the last words you said to me. I have a voice mail from you on my birthday that I can listen to whenever I need to hear your voice, especially March 15!
May God surround you with His infinite love...give Dad, and Jason a hug from me. I'm sure they welcomed you with open arms!
I'll be seeing you in my Godwinks. Te amo con todo mi corazon!
