Napoleon Bonaparte "N.B." Tanner

Napoleon Bonaparte "N.B." Tanner, Jr., passed away on October 22, 2002 at the age of 87. He was born November 12, 1914 in Bastrop County, Texas. N.B. was president of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years and active in the Department for 50 years and active in the Beeville Kiwanis Club for over 45 years. He was involved in education for over 26 years as a teacher and principal and the Registrar of Coastal Bend Community College. N.B. was a deacon of the First Baptist Church Beeville, Texas for 55 years. He also served as the Treasurer of the First Baptist Church Beeville for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mahala; three sons: Bonn Tanner of Humble, Texas, Jimmy (Dawn) Tanner of Yukon, Oklahoma and George (Daryl) of Corpus Christi, Texas. N.B. is also survived by four grandchildren: Patti Tanner Betts (Howard) of Calumet, Oklahoma, Clete Tanner of South Lake Tahoe, California, Benjamin Tanner of Washington, DC, and Kathleen Tanner of Davidson, North Carolina; three great grandchildren: Tanner, Sheridan and Madeline Betts all of Calumet, Oklahoma; two sisters, Leola Garrett of Bishop, Texas and Laverne Wesson of Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 25, 2002 at First Baptist Church Beeville, Texas with burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Beeville, Texas. Pallbearers will be Marvin Filla, Tommy Wroten, Blaine Luthringer, James Blackburn, Tony Floerke and Neal Floerke. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department, the Deacons of the First Baptist Church Beeville, Texas, the members of the Beeville Kiwanis Club, Dan Humble, Bill Morrow, Ed Diebel and Leon Wright. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Texas Children Home or the special account at the First Baptist Church Beeville, Texas for the replacement of the air conditioning system.
