Ive known Richard since we were teens. He and my husband, Dale were best friends and always said they were as close as brothers. We went to school together.
When Dale passed away in 2014 we became close friends; a friendship I will always treasure. We were both hurting. I had just lost Dale and he recently lost his wife, Betty. I didnt know Betty very well but I felt like I got to know her some as I listened to Richard talk about her. I believe it was healing for both of us as we were able to talk about Betty and Dale.
There were a lot of wonderful memories as well as making new ones in the short time we had together, I will miss you very much Richard and the memorable times we had when we were able to get together. Im so thankful that you was there when I needed that special friend! Halsey

This picture of my papa means so much because the number one thing in his life was family. He loved family more than he loved steak fingers from HEB and Ice Cream. He had the biggest heart in the whole world and was so genuine and loving. You could make a

Prayers and condolences to the Chew family. I was the postman on Cantrell street in Corpus Christi in the 1970's and 80's . I loved our morning chats. Richard and Betty were two of the nicest people I have ever met.

My love and prayers go out for you all. Richard and Betty are both fondly remembered. We got to be with them at Jackson reunions occasionally. Laughed alot. Since there were 13 siblings connected to Betty's side of family it was hard getting everyone together. Lots of good eating and fellowshipping when we did. Praying God will comfort you all and give you peace. Love Hugs and Prayers Marilyn Jackson Wells

My wife and I are Jerry and Thelma's son and daughter-in-law so that would make me Uncle Richards nephew. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time with Richard or his family but what I do remember is him being a fun loving guy with a smile that would light up the room. I think the last time I was able to see Richard was when he came to Vancouver Washington to see his brother Jerry in a rehab center recuperating from a serious leg injury. If I'm not mistaken Richard's daughter and family accompanied him here on that trip. My wife and I are so sorry for the loss of your "papa". We know he will be missed by many friends, family and acquaintances who had the privilege of knowing what a great guy he was. Sending hugs and prayers your way hoping for healing and comfort in this time of sadness. With much love Howard & Pam Meisner

My name is Nancy Jackson Rubinstein (daughter of Melvin & Annie Ruth Jackson). Rhonda, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dick, as I knew him. Unfortunately the last time I saw him and you and Rick and the rest of your family was at your Mom's funeral.
I remember your Dad while visiting your Grandfather Cliff and Grandmother Leona in New Braunsfel and when everyone would come down to Corpus Christi to have a Jackson family fishing outing. The one story that I have always remembered was at the end of one of these outings, probably in the early 60's; the men were pulling the boats out of the water. It was your Grandfather Cliff's turn, so off he went to get his car and trailer. He zoomed the car to the launch and backed it up like a Pro. Then your Dad yells "Hey Dad, You forgot the damn trailer!" Cliff hadn't even had time to get out of the car, so off he went, tires spinning. I laughed then, even as a kid and still laugh remembering his voice as he said this. He was always a kind and friendly person.
This and other fond memories of getting together with the Jackson Clan will stay with me forever and be cherished.

My Uncle Richard was a kind, loving, caring gentle man. I might not have been able to see him as much as I would have liked during my lifetime but every time I was graced by his company it was always a loving experience because that's just the kind of man he was. He will be missed greatly love ya Uncle Richard. Teresa

My name is Cindy Wright. My maiden name is Chew. My dad is Richards brother Jerry Chew, 88. My mom is Thelma Chew, 92. My parents and Aunt Betty and Uncle Richard were close even tho they lived far away. I remember in younger days, many times when they got together and had a blast. Out drinking and dancing or taking the RV on trips...what ever it was they enjoyed themselves. It was a hard loss for everyone when Aunt Betty passed. My mom was so sad and at a loss. They all got thru it but it left a hole in everyones heart. As time went on my parents and Uncle Richard got older and health issues began to set in. My sisters and I began caregiving for my parents. I was there on the weekends sometimes when Uncle Richard called. Always a character you could count on a lot of laughter during their conversations. And the birthday cards he sent my parents every year were always hilarious. I looked forward to reading them each time their birthdays come around. Rest In Peace Uncle Richard and know you were loved and will be missed.
