Ruby Campbell Eagle

Ruby Campbell Eagle, 81, of Salisbury passed away peacefully on Tueday, Oct. 23, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Peggy Gamewell. She had been in declining health for several years. Born Feb. 1, 1937 in Cooleemee, Mrs. Eagle was a daughter of the late Clark and Cordie Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell, David and Richard Campbell and five sisters, Juanita Fleming, Lucille King, Bonnie Barney, Dot Funderburk and Mary Ruth Riggins. Survivors include her husband Thomas (Tom) Eagle whom she married on Aug. 29, 1954. Mrs. Eagle leaves to cherish her memory, all of whom will miss her dearly, a son, Tommy Eagle (Shirby) of Advance; three daughters, Denise Obstarczyk (Ron) of Wayland, N.Y., Peggy Gamewell (Bill Steen) of Salisbury and Rhonda Ketchie of Southern Pines; four grandchildren, Crystal Kovach of Dryden, Mich., Ronnie Obstarczyk (Jennifer) of Water Port, N.Y., Mr. Bryan Eagle and Mrs Sheryl (Ben) Steele, both of Advance; and eight great-grandchildren, Amber and Sean Kovach, Nathan, Nicholas, Makayla and Ashley Obstarczyk and Tyler and Hunter Steele. Her love and devotion to her family will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation & Service: The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 at Summersett Funeral Home. Services celebrating Mrs. Eagle's life will be at 1 p.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Chapel in the Pines Mausoleum. The Reverend Carroll Robinson will officiate. Our family feels so blessed that our Mother was in the loving care of Novant Health Hospice during her past two months, as well as our Dad. We all are so humbled by the care and compassion shown to us by all of you. We are so thankful that we were able to be with her during her peaceful passing at home. When she needed to let go, the team was able to see that she had a peaceful passing and you also gave the family comfort and support and we will forever be grateful for each of you.
