Shirley Crockett Obituary
Corpus Christi, TX
On the evening of Monday, May 1, 2017, Shirley Nan Crockett gained her wings and went home to be with the Lord. Her family was at her bedside. She was 83 years old. Shirley, the baby of five children, was born on November 15, 1933 in McCamey, Texas to Mary Henry Haley and Onnie Erving Haley.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bruce Haley, twin sisters, Wylma McKinley and Wynell Ball, and her husband of 58 years, James Donald Crockett.
Shirley will be incredibly missed by her three children. They are Cynthia Kay Blacklock (Tim) of Corpus Christi, James Donald Crockett, Jr. (Anne) of Houston and Steven Jeffery Crockett of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by one sister, Eleanor (Royce) Gregory of Willis, Texas. Nannie, as she was known to her five grandchildren, leaves behind Patricia Nan Herridge (Jonathan) of Corpus Christi, Julie Ann Lumbrezer (Noah) of Corpus Christi, James Donald Crockett, III of Rocksprings, Melanie Sonia Crockett of Houston and Kimberly Ann Crockett of Corpus Christi. Shirley also had three great grandchildren: Hunter James Herridge, Caleb Timothy Herridge and Brinley Paige Lumbrezer, all of Corpus Christi. Her fourth great grandchild, a girl, will be arriving in November 2017.
Shirley moved to Thrive Memory Care Center in October 2016 where she made many friends, participated in group activities and attended holiday parties. She enjoyed having her hair and nails done with love weekly by our beloved Mrs. Rose Marie Stone Magners.
At her request, a private celebration of Shirley's life will be held by her immediate family at their ranch on Good Friday 2018. Shirley's family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff and administrators at Thrive Memory Care. In addition, they extend much love and respect to Karen Martin from Christus Hospice.
