Virginia "Gingie" Ann Benys

Virginia "Gingie" Ann Benys, passed away peacefully at age 86, after a long battle with illness, on the morning of Wednesday, May 26th, 2021, in Portland, Texas, not far from where she grew up in Corpus Christi. Regardless of battling a serious illness her sense of humor always remained intact, and she showed tremendous courage every day.

Gingie had an adventurous spirit and loved to visit other countries, and cultures. Amongst her travels she found a passion for a healthy lifestyle. She was a Yoga instructor for many years, and a health food guru. She often shared with her close family recipes, and plants with specific uses. She was an advocate for healthy living as far back as the early 60's and continued to do so throughout her life, encouraging and educating those around her.

She was predeceased by her Parents, L.A. Benys and Marcella Benys, and her Brother, Charles B. Benys. Survived by her Sister Rose Marie Risinger and husband H.L., their children Brian, Lee Ann, Brad and their extended families, along with her nephew, Charles L. Benys and wife Jillian and children Ryan and Haley. She was greatly loved, and will be missed dearly.

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association on her behalf. Her final wish was to have her body donated to The University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio.
