Walter Charles RhodesCorpus Christi, TXWalter Charles (W.C.) Rhodes passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age 80. God saw he was getting tired and called His son to his heavenly home. He was born August 13, 1933 in Seguin, Texas to the late Jesse Rhodes and Ethel Lewis Rhodes. He was one of eight siblings the youngest son of the family.He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James, Emmitt Sr. and Willie Andrew Rhodes and two sisters, Jessie Mae Ingram and Rosa Lee Mc Kinney. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Brooks Chapel AME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mc CloneyAfter the family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1935, he attended Booker T. Washington Elementary and Solomon Coles High School. He was drafted to the army and served in Germany for two years,May 19, 1961, he met and married the love of his life Mary Riley Rhodes for over Fifty-two years. Walter and Mary were parents to many relative and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary, two sisters Bernice A. Crecy and Mary Frances Campbell all of Corpus Christi; Special nephew Emmitt (Shirley) Rhodes, Jeffrey (Veena) Campbell of Los Angeles, California, Michael Campbell of Corpus Christi, Texas Virgil (Mary) Ingram of Portland, Oregon, Bobby Jo (Betty) of Federal Way, Washington, and many other relatives and friends who loved him unconditionally.W.C. Worked for Goldston Refinery Company, Corpus Christi State School for 10 years and retired from West Oso Independent School District after 15 years of service.Special Thanks to Dr. Jude, Trisun Westwood Facility Staff Nurses, CNA'S, Chaplain Dorothy Winn and Hospice Care.Visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 11:00 am at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Carl Garmon Officiating. Interment will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery.
