William Ahrens Obituary

William F. Ahrens, Sr., 69, passed away September 2, 2004 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Welch, Oklahoma on May 21, 1935 to Dennis Rudolph and Katherine Pee Ahrens. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Ahrens came to Corpus Christi, Texas to work for HEB where he was employed for 28 years before retiring in 2001. He was an active member of the Annaville Baptist Church and the men's breakfast club. His love for life, fast cars, and boats was only surpassed by his love for Christ and his family.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, JoAnn Brown Ahrens, three grandchildren, and a step-son Bobby J. Crow.He is survived by his wife, Sue Ahrens; three children, Debbie Van Metre and William F. Ahrens, Jr., both of Corpus Christi and Lisa Wehe of Castroville, Texas; one brother, Robert "Bob" Ahrens of Arizona; one sister, Beverly Burgos of California; three step-daughters, Karen Hall, Tonya Schroeder and Laura Lee Melnick; one step-daughter-in-law, Venita Crow; seven grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.Visitation will be Noon to 9 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M., Saturday in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M., Sunday, September 5, 2004 in Annaville Baptist Church with Brother Robert Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be members of the men's breakfast club of Annaville Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of William F. Ahrens, Sr.
